Highlander Construction & Development and Gay and Neel are pleased to announce that both companies are partnering with Virginia Blood Services to sponsor and host a third annual blood drive. The Blood Drive will be held on Friday, September 26, 2013 at the Office Building of Gay & Neel located at 1260 Radford Road, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073. The Blood Drive will start at 11 AM and end at 5 PM.
In conjunction with our Annual Blood Drives we select a special person to honor and/or remember. Our Third Annual Blood Drive will be dedicated to the memory of Gaye Yonce Whitaker who died in July 2013 after a long battle with cancer.
Highlander Construction and Gay and Neel will be seeking donations from professionals related to both the construction and real estate industries in the New River Valley, but the general public is invited and encouraged to participate. In Memory of Gaye Yonce Whitaker
Gaye Yonce Whitaker, beloved wife and mother passed away in July 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, W. Michael Whitaker; her daughter, Lora Whitaker Howard and husband, Gary Howard, of Floyd; her daughter, Jennifer Whitaker Rush and husband, Nick Rush, of Christiansburg; and many grandchildren. Gaye was employed by Pulaski County Visitor’s Center for over 10 years, and made every effort to make sure that everyone that walked through the door was welcome. A lifelong horsewoman, she was a member of the Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society for 15 years. Gaye lived by her faith and set an example for all of her family and friends. She continued to witness to others and uplift them despite her illness. She taught children’s church for over 32 years, and faithfully attended church services until the end.
